DIS has joined under their Startup tier: a three-year program designed to help emerging businesses build compelling geospatial applications and capabilities.

DIS will be utilising this technology to add further geospatial capability to their Octa platform, as well as other ongoing research and development activities. Octa is an intelligent system for airborne object classification, tracking and analysis - primarily to identify and classify uncrewed air systems (UAS). Using a combination of advanced statistical methods and machine learning techniques, Octa takes sensed track data (e.g. from radar) and fuses it with other sources to provide enhanced situational awareness, monitoring and early warning capabilities.
Octa is currently being developed for deployment as part of Project HADO® - part of Innovate UK's Future Flight Challenge - with the aim of enabling the safe and secure operation of UAS in highly congested airspace with trials at London Heathrow airport.
